Violence Intervention & Prevention (VIP) Program

UC Davis is part of a national effort to provide education, prevention and response to the issues of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking.  Addressing these issues is a part of the University’s commitment to providing you with a healthy and safe learning environment.  A key component of this safe learning environment is an atmosphere free of violence, coercion, and fear.
As part of this commitment, UC Davis requires that all incoming students complete the mandatory Violence Intervention & Prevention (VIP) online program.

VIP is UC Davis's interactive online mandatory education program on violence intervention and prevention.  Topics covered in the program include:

  • Definitions of sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating and domestic violence, stalking, and consent
  • Social norms which contribute to violence
  • Bystander intervention
  • Confidential campus and community resources
  • Reporting options

Incoming UC Davis students will receive an email sent to their UC Davis email address during the second week of classes which will provide information on how to access and complete the VIP program.  Incoming students will be able to access the VIP program through their SmartSite.  It is crucial that students complete the program prior to the due date provided.  Students who do not complete the program in its entirety before the due date will have a hold placed on thier ability to register for classes.  Holds will be removed upon completion of the program.
